In a competitive job market, candidates for any kind of job, including teaching jobs, should think about ways to enhance their resume. One such way is to gain work experience in the field they intend to pursue. Some of the ongoing opportunities that Liberal Studies students have pursued in the past, as well as some new ones, are listed below. None of this information is guaranteed to be current, so please check with each organization for up to date information. PAID OPPORTUNITIES
USD's Upward Bound Program is currently seeking Summer help. The application dealine (April 13th) is fast approaching, so don't delay. Download an application here.
Hoover High School is currently seeking tutors for math and science courses (e.g. Earth Science, Pre-Calculus, Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
Applications are available in GMCS 324.
Tutors must be available between 8:00am - 3:00 pm.

EOP Transfer Bridge Mentor
SDSU's EOP office is hiring current SDSU transfer students to be mentors to new transfer students this Summer.
Interested students should view the job announcement and contact Eddie Vasquez in the EOP office.
Work Study Jobs (restricted to students who receive work study funds as a part of their financial aid package)
School in the Park: ($10-12 per hour)
* Students work 10 to 13 hours per week helping with theatre, arts, science, etc. with fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes that meet at the various museums in Balboa Park.
* Hiring through third week of class during fall or spring semester.

America Reads: ($10 - 12 per hour)
* Interested in helping children between 5 and 8 years old develop their literacy skills,
* Can commit between 10 - 20 hours per week to tutoring in local elementary schools, and
* Able to enroll in TE 362 (3 units) meeting Mondays 9:00-10:50 AM in fall semester.

Volunteer teaching assistants needed
Mr. Renner, a teacher at Normal Heights Elementary, is seeking volunteers to work in K-5th grade classrooms at his school. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience and enhance your resume.

Volunteer science teaching at the RH Fleet museum
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center’s Volunteer Program is currently seeking aplicants. They have recently expanded their volunteering opportunities to include teaching science in their Exhibit galleries. Students who volunteer at the Fleet can increase their knowledge of science content, inquiry pedagogy, and make friends with similar interests.
