Please see the home page for the most updated list of all events and announcements.Liberal Studies students have a number of workshops and events available to them. Initially, all students must attend a group advising orientation.
Two of the core Liberal Studies classes also have required workshops. Students can learn about the workshops for Liberal Studies 300 and the workshops for Liberal Studies 498.
Students enrolled in Liberal Studies 300 attend one three-hour workshop during the semester in which they’re enrolled in the class. At this workshop, students learn about the CSET , the Liberal Studies 498 assessment, what a typical week in a credential program is like, prerequisites for the SDSU credential programs (general, bilingual, and special education), some of the steps involved in applying for a credential program, scholarship programs for teachers [1.6.3] (such as the APLE financial aid program), and future educator organizations.
Check the Liberal Studies home page for the latest information regarding days, times, and locations of the two workshops that are offered each semester.
All students enrolled in Liberal Studies 498 will attend three workshops during the semester in which they’re enrolled in the class. The dates and times of these workshops are announced in the class schedule and on the Liberal Studies home page. Attendance at these workshops is mandatory, so students should plan appropriately. At these workshops, all of the requirements of the senior assessment will be explained in detail.
All graduating Liberal Studies students are encouraged to attend the University Commencement Ceremony in May. The May ceremony is the only ceremony held during the year. Students participating in the ceremony will include students who graduated the previous December (Fall semester), those graduating in May (Spring semester), and those who anticipate graduating the following August (Summer term).
Graduating Liberal Studies students participate in the ceremony with students in the College of Education and the Division of Undergraduate Studies. The ceremony is generally held on Sunday morning of commencement weekend at 8:00am. Details regarding commencement can be found on the SDSU Enrollment Services wesbite at http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/advising/gradfaqs.html and on the commencement website.
