Please see the home page for the most updated list of all events and announcements.Liberal Studies students have a number of workshops and events available to them. Initially, all students must attend a group advising orientation.
Two of the core Liberal Studies classes also have required workshops. Students can learn about the workshops for Liberal Studies 300 and the workshops for Liberal Studies 498 , as well as MathEd 212 scheduling information, using this page. Also on this page is information regarding SDSU's commencement ceremony.
Students enrolled in Liberal Studies 300 attend one three-hour workshop during the semester in which they’re enrolled in the class. At this workshop, students learn about the CSET , the Liberal Studies 498 senior assessment, what a typical week in a credential program is like, prerequisites for the SDSU credential programs (general, bilingual, and special education), some of the steps involved in applying for a credential program, scholarship programs for teachers (such as the APLE financial aid program), and future educator organizations.
Check the registration updates page for the latest information regarding days, times, and locations of the workshops that are offered each semester.
All students enrolled in Liberal Studies 498 will attend three workshops during the semester in which they’re enrolled in the class. The dates and times of these workshops are announced on our registration updates page. Attendance at these workshops is mandatory, so students should plan appropriately. At these workshops, all of the requirements of the senior assessment will be explained in detail.
Because it's a 1.5 unit class, each Math Ed 212 section meets only half of each semester. You can see the schedule for each section by using our registration updates page.
All graduating Liberal Studies students are encouraged to attend the University Commencement Ceremony in May. The May ceremony is the only ceremony held during the year. Students participating in the ceremony will include students who graduated the previous December (Fall semester), those graduating in May (Spring semester), and those who anticipate graduating the following August (Summer term). For example, the May 2012 ceremony will be for students who apply to graduate in December 2011, May 2012 and August 2012.
Graduating Liberal Studies students participate in the same commencement ceremony with students in the College of Education and the Division of Undergraduate Studies. The May 2012 ceremony will be held in Viejas Arena on Sunday, May 20th at 1:00pm (student processional will begin at 12:45 p.m.) and will last aproximately 2.5 hours. Details regarding commencement can be found on the SDSU Enrollment Services wesbite at http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/advising/gradfaqs.html and on the commencement website.
