Comments from our Graduates

The Liberal Studies Program is always interested in hearing from our former students regarding the preparation they received in our program. If you are a graduate of our program, please send us an email to let us know how your preparation in our program prepared you for your future.

Below are some comments from students who have already responded to our call for feedback.

First, I wanted to tell you that I am so grateful for the Capstone Project you make mandatory for us to complete. It is not easy, and while you're doing it you do not understand why. But now, being in the Credential Program, I can see how valuable it is to use good grammar and have knowledgable punctuation. There are several students in the program who are not liberal studies majors, and their writing is not as advanced as ours, (liberal studies) and I think it's because of all the additional classes we had to take. I am not saying their writing is poor, but I just feel like we are more familiar with writing properly.(Thanks to you guys).

So when undergraduates complain now, I can say how it is extremely important, and we are doing everything for a reason. Teachers must have proper writing skills.

If there is a will, there is a way. Follow your dreams and don't be discouraged. I applied to public schools, private schools, Teach for America, schools out-of-state, and non-classroom teaching opportunities. All of the work and effort was worth the career I have now built for myself. Never stop growing as an individual to make yourself more marketable. The more experience, the better! I felt completely prepared to begin my teaching career from the education I received at San Diego State, which is why I am choosing to attend SDSU for my Masters. I hope you have the same wonderful experiences I did on your journey as an Aztec!
