Catalog Year 2014 and Later: Education Generalist Emphasis

NOTE: This emphasis is only for transfer students who complete the California Community College Associate in Arts in Elementary Education (AA-T) degree and complete the Transfer Model Curriculum (TMC) for Liberal Studies/Integrated Teacher Education.

See the Liberal Studies Overview for a summary of the major. Use the steps below to guide your progress through the major.

Step 1: Students begin at SDSU as a Liberal Studies pre-major and complete the 9.5 units of additional preparation for the major. By the end of this step, the impaction criteria should be met.

Step 2: Students must declare the Liberal Studies major by emailing the Liberal Studies Advising Office that Step 1 is complete and impaction criteria have been met. Moving to the major does not happen automatically.

Step 3: Students make some choices. In addition to completing upper division core coursework, students choose and complete a focus. For some issues to think about before choosing a focus area, see Career Pathways and Course Timing.

Step 4: Choose a focus from the list below. After clicking on a focus, students will be able to print an advising sheet that lists the required courses based on their choice.

Step 5: Apply for graduation 4 to 12 months prior to finishing the requirements for the major.
