Although the Liberal Studies Office is not the best place to receive credential program advising, we have put together the following information to help Liberal Studies students plan their undergraduate course work in preparation for entrance into a credential program at SDSU. Please note the following important points:

MULTIPLE SUBJECTS, REGULAR EDUCATION

Program: multiple subject credential (regular education)
Department: Teacher Education, BA-255 http://coe.sdsu.edu/ste/
Prerequisites not included in the Liberal Studies major (5 units):

*This class can also be applied towards the Human Development specialization for students in catalog years 2010 and prior.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Program: special education
Department: Special Education, NE-70 http://coe.sdsu.edu/sped/
Prerequisites not included in the Liberal Studies major (16 units):          

**These classes can also be applied towards the Human Development specialization for students in catalog years 2010 and prior.

BILINGUAL EDUCATION

Program: multiple subjects credential with bilingual authorization
Department: Policy Studies, BA-248 http://coe.sdsu.edu/plc/
Prerequisites not included in the Liberal Studies major (12 units):        

***This class is only for students interested in English/Spanish bilingual certification; students interested in English/Arabic, English/Japanese, English/Mandarin or English/Tagalog certification must take a test, instead.
^This class can be applied to the Bilingual Ed Credential Option (#2) in the Literacy Focus for students in catalog years 2011 and later.
+This class can be applied to the Spanish specialization for students in catalog years 2010 and prior.
