Although the Liberal Studies Office is not the appropriate place to receive credential program advising, we have put together the following information to help Liberal Studies students plan their undergraduate course work in preparation for entrance into a credential program at SDSU. Please note the following important points:

MULTIPLE SUBJECTS, REGULAR EDUCATION

Program: multiple subject credential (regular education)
Department: Teacher Education, BA-255 http://edweb.sdsu.edu/STE/
Prerequisites not included in the Liberal Studies major (5 units):

*This class can also be applied towards the Human Development specialization

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Program: special education

Prerequisites not included in the Liberal Studies major (16 units):          

*These classes can also be applied towards the Human Development specialization

BILINGUAL EDUCATION*

Program: bilingual education (multiple subjects)
Department: Policy Studies, BA-248 http://edweb.sdsu.edu/PLC/
Prerequisites not included in the Liberal Studies major (8 units**):        

*An alternative pathway to bilingual certification is to earn a regular education credential and pass a BCLAD exam (see http://www.ctel.nesinc.com/ for information regarding this exam)

**These prerequisites were new for the 2005-2006 academic year; students who took different prerequisites based on previous catalogs should consult the Policy Studies Department
